With models riding giant inflatable swans along the canals at The Shoppes at Marina
Bay Sands, guests attending the opening of Kate Spade New York's boutique knew
they were in for a special celebration.
The attention-grabbing display was inspired by the brand's Spring 2015 collection,
which, according to a spokeswoman for the label, "is all about escaping the ordinary
and embracing the feeling where anything is possible".
More than 200 guests attended the event and celebrities Yoyo Cao, Tracy Phillips,
Hanli Hoefer and Jade Seah turned out wearing pieces from the new collection. True
to the label's whimsical spirit, the collection features many quirky must-haves such
as a bag shaped like a watering can and shoes in the form of New York taxis.
Kate Spade's chief creative officer, Deborah Lloyd, has told of how she enjoys
designing for spring. "The freshness, that feeling of taking chances, of feeling like
anything is possible, it's all very exciting," said Lloyd. "You can see this translating into
the prints – you can really smell the spring with the ocean and floral-inspired looks,
and the coordinating animal-shaped bags and accessories." Vanessa Tai
