The mysterious world of the deep ocean will be illuminated at
ArtScience Museum from 6 June onwards, when more than 40
rare deep-sea creatures, including the Dumbo octopus and the
"Big Red" jellyfish, are presented in an exhibition titled The Deep.
The seas are Earth's largest reservoir of life, and yet more people
have walked on the moon than have dived down to the deepest
parts of the ocean. This exhibition will reveal the mysteries lurking
in the deep through perfectly preserved and extremely rare
animals, all displayed in crystalline detail. Odd and mesmeric,
these breathtaking specimens will be accompanied by 67 images
of captivating sea fauna and ethereal bioluminescent creatures,
some photographed for the very first time.
"The Deep is a work that I hope will captivate and remind us that
we belong to a vast, living chain that is incredibly beautiful, terribly
fragile and – until proven otherwise – miraculously unique in
the universe," says Claire Nouvian, the exhibition's curator. For
