A who's who of Singapore's fashion elite, The Shoppes top customers gathered at Marina Bay Sands in April to celebrate the completion of the resort's retail remix and its leading position as Asia's premier luxury shopping destination. The invitation-only event, entitled Discover, presented a theatrical journey through the mall, which since its debut in 2010 has amassed the largest collection of luxury labels under one roof in the region, with more than 170 premium brands. The fantasy-meets-luxury expedition began in the especially created "Garden of Enchantment", featuring timepieces and jewellery by Damiani, Chopard, Piaget, Roger Dubuis, Zenith and newly opened Girard Perregaux, amidst a Jo Malone- scented ambience. Next stop, along the stretch of luxury duplexes, were dancers wearing fuchsia raincoats and sporting yellow umbrellas performing a stylised rendition of the Gene Kelly classic Singin' in the Rain. Guests continued to the "Finest Bar", which was located along the belt of luxury men's boutiques within The Shoppes, and later models wearing designs by ETRO, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Giorgio Armani, Armani Collezioni, Emporio Armani and Roberto Cavalli rode a carousel of gold and white horses above the TWG Tea Garden. The luxe fashion crawl culminated at the "Ice Palace" – a wonderland of bubbly, bespoke cocktails and gastronomy – and the evening ended with a fashion show emceed by actor and model Paul Foster, sporting an Uomo bespoke suit, that showcased the latest collections by Roberto Cavalli, Armani Group and Etro.
