1 Chendol
Block 822, Tampines sTreeT 81
They make chendol from scratch using rice
ground into a paste and freshly squeezed
pandan leaves at Penang A1 Chendol, 01-186.
They then add kidney beans for a crunchy
texture and shaved ice, topped with sweet
gula melaka syrup. The result is a well-
balanced and refreshing dessert.
2 Mango Pudding
1 liang seah sTreeT
Ah Chew Desserts, at 01-10/11, Liang Seah
Place, serves up what I consider to be one
of the best mango puddings in Singapore.
Without a trace of artificial flavouring, this
perfect dessert for our tropical climate
captures the glorious freshness of the fruit
like no other. It is healthy, too.
3 Tau Suan
Block 30, seng poh road
Made with boiled split mung beans flavoured
with pandan leaves, sweetened with sugar
and thickened with starch,
tau suan is a classic
Chinese dessert. Stall number 02-55 at Tiong
Bahru Hawker Centre prepares this dish with
just the right consistency and a good balance
of salty
you tiao and sweet tau suan.
